Yesterday in English class we had the best laugh and conversation all year! Two guys in my class really didn't want to talk about the article that we had to read for homework, an article against flip flops. So they tried to stall and get the teacher off topic. I don't know how we got to talking about horses, but we did and then got to talking about them swimming. One guy asked in disbelief "horses can swim?" We all looked at him weird and then said "yeah." He asked "how can they swim?" Then someone looked up a video of a horse swimming and showed the video to him and he commented "so they do a horsey paddle" We all died of laughter and nodded our heads. He then adventured to ask if you can ride a horse while it swims; yes you can. Our teacher asked him how he thought the cavalry crossed rivers in the past during wars. He replied "I thought they just used bridges or the river wasn't really that deep so they just walked across." Not quite. We were all dying of laughter and disbelief by now. This was awesome! The guy then announced that he was going to buy a horse and swim with it. My teacher said "well that costs nearly $20,000 to get the horse, tack and then you have to feed it everyday and clean up after it." He said "so, it's worth it."
After getting off topic our teacher tried to bring us all back to the topic we were supposed to be talking about; the flip flop article. Then the same guy says "can you put flip flops on a horse?" ummm no. He was determined that we should try it. One girl mentioned that she puts special hoof protections on her horse back at home; which is in Virginia. Everyone yells "Road Trip!!" Like that's going to fly.
