When you give a teacher a break...

When you give a teacher a break then he will add a test. He will add a test, but will ask for a quiz too. After he gets his quiz and test his friends, other professors, will do the same. Once all his friends have scheduled their tests and quizzes then sleep says goodbye. Food becomes quick munchies on the way to the library and midnight snacks. 2:00am becomes your friend to mark the end of a long day. Naps become a necessity as energy boosters. When you give a professor a break all "h-e-double hockey stick" breaks loose.
These next two weeks are beyond rough as I have 8 exams all next week, 2 tests and quizzes all this week for every class. Nothing like studying, sleeping, eating and repeat.

A Tad Bit Chilly

Woke up Sunday morning to this weather and having to go to barn duty still. Let's say it was a little cold.
Even though it was extra chilly we got to give lambs their vaccinations and I managed to capture this moment of a mother watching over her lamb.
Just chilling with my favorites; the cows and their calves.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

Nothing like waking up at 6:00am to go to barn duty and feed all the animals in the barn. After taking a quick nap I went out to the barn with Emma and Emily to watch Alyssa in her dressage horse show.

She did a great job! Alyssa and I
Me, Alyssa, Emma and Emily
While we waited for Emma to clean her stalls Emily and I enjoyed petting and looking at the horses. My favorite, Peanut from last year when I worked at the barns for a few days, was there.
Another handsome one was this Clydesdale and thoroughbred cross. He was gorgeous!
Once back on campus, Julie and I headed to cheer on our findlay men's basketball team. It was a rough game as we lost by at least 20 points. Derrick was still showing off his dance moves as always:)

After the game it was back to the barn to feed everyone dinner. It to see this cute new born calf.
Playing with the goat kids is always a blast!

With my hair being shampooed three times I think I finally got the stink of the pigs out of my hair from earlier in the morning. Preston, Julie and I headed out to five guys for a Valentine's Day dinner. Preston had never been to five guys and it was a place that would most likely not be that busy. Preston thoroughly enjoyed his burger from five guys and the people there were really nice. To end our long day and night we watched Mr. Deebs and enjoyed some cookie dough. All in all it was a good Valentine's Day even if it didn't really feel like Valentine's Day. Happy Valentine's Day from the furry friends and my findlay family!!!

Pre-Valentine's Day Gaming

I was studying with Preston in Davis before biology and two girls came up with baked goods as a fundraiser. All the goods were $1 and I couldn't pass up the peanut butter Buckeyes. Preston and I almost had to fight over them as I gave my choice to the ladies and he did too and there were only 2 bags of them. They were delicious!
As a program we did minute to win it valentine themes games and revealed our secret valentines.

This is my secret valentine as she won the challenge to stack the most conversation heart candies.
To top it off we had some sweets and goodies as we relaxed after a long week.

"You're such a fungi"

Got to look at different Protists and fungi yesterday in lab on the microscopes. Here is a mushroom
Amoeba
Today,Thursday we had debates in speech and debate class. Preston's partner didn't show up so it was him against the class as he argued for marijuana to remain illegal for recreational use. It was a lot of fun and a cool way to debate, but it must have been hard for Preston to argue against 19 of us.

Chilly

Yesterday we had a 17 degree wind chill that seemed to get worse through out the day. It was terrible outside when walking to class. The plus though is that there was no new snow.
Our "quiet cupids" are going well and mine knows just what I like:) tonight we reveal ourselves to our valentine.
Had duty in the bitter cold, but the security guard that was working that night made it worth it. He is all of our favorites and came in just to talk to us and see how we were doing and if we were staying warm. Then we got on the topic of reserved parking as Megan had gotten 3 tickets since Monday and didnt want to pay them because she was unaware of the violation. As Megan and I were talking with him she was playing with the flashlight and accidentally hit herself in the face. The security guard comments "would you stop hitting yourself with the flashlight?" And "as much as I would love to stay and talk about reserved parking I have to go do my round." He is so funny and personal. Best security officer award goes to him.

Shadowing

Yesterday morning I got to spend a good time at Blanchard Valley Veterinary Clinic as I got to watch a few neuters, spays and teeth extractions and cleanings. With the one feline spay we had her uterin horns were rather large, but it didn't look like she was pregnant so we believe she was just going into heat. Once the uterin horns and ovaries were removed I got to take my own scalpel to them to see what the inside stucture looked like. It was really cool, but very small and hard to see. It would have been cool to probably see them under a microscope. Our only K9 neuter of the day was on a 5 year old afghan hound. His testes were huge and after the neuter he needed his teeth cleaned and anal glands expressed. The tech that was expressing the anal glands came over and showed us what she had gotten out of one of them. Let's say that they really needed to be expressed as at least a tablespoon of brown piss colored stuff came out and came out like a snake. It was disgusting, but cool at the sametime. I left right after that so I didn't have to smell the nasty smell, but I'm sure it smelled terrible.

On another good note; my bruises are coming in nicely. They feel a lot better, but still hurt to apply too much pressure.

Flashback

Went to the Center of Autism and Dyslexia this morning with my bible study/service group. One of our jobs was to organize the library and they had so many cute children's books. A lot of them we wanted to sit and read instead of put them away as we had read them when we were kids. I remembered this book;
We got some good laughs out of this book;

After organizing the books we went and played with four kids. It was really cool and a lot of fun.
Here's two of the group members holding two brothers. They were by far the cutest ones:)
A long morning of playing with kids, we went to Buffalo Wild Wings.
Got myself potato wedges and southwestern queso wrap; delicious.
For dinner Julie and I decided to cook the tripe I got the other night. As you can probably tell from the photo it didn't go so well.
Julie is holding the pan with the tripe in it out the window. The smell was absolutely disgusting!! On snapchat Julie makes this statement as I am cleaning the dishes and she is incharge of febrezing the room out
Took a look at my extremely sore knees and they are bruising nicely if I do say so myself. I cannot kneel or squat too well though. Applying pressure to them is extremely painful, but they will be good as new soon hopefully. As for the rest of my body, I'm feeling the soreness more and more. My neck, ribs, abs, back and shoulders. It was a ton of fun!

Finally Friday

Turned in my letter of intent for reslife and I am officially not coming back next year!
After a long week and day Julie and I hit the slopes at Mad River Mountsin. There were so many findlay people there and people from Ohio state. It was a ton of fun
Since the hills of Ohio are like New York sledding hills Julie and I decided to be adventurous and try snowboarding. Neither of us have ever been snowboarding so, it was bound to be interesting. I drew the short straw and was nominated to go snowboarding first and we weren't starting on the bunny hill. The first time ever on a snowboard and I'm riding the chair lift up to the big hills. We got on the chair lift and were sitting with two guys with snowboards on and I turned to them and asked "so any tips on how I snowboard?" They looked at me in shock and asked have you ever snowboarded before and I replied "nope just put it on before getting on the chair lift." They seriously thought I was crazy and said so right to me and kind of gave me some tips.
The first run down was rough with a face plant, somersaults and several wipeouts. I was great at getting down the hill backwards, as I faced up the hill. On my second or third run down there were jumps on one side of the trail and I managed to steer myself on to part of it and went flying and flipped in mid air. That was the worst. My knees took all the damage as I used them as my breaks as I faced up the hill. This is them once we got back; a little red and purple already and already are sore.

Thrilling Thursday

Got our repro exam grades back and I must say I am really pleased with that grade! Wish I could see these kind of numbers more often...
Was doing some research for my debate on lowering the drinking age and came across this article. Glad to know New York is good in some things:)
Made valentine boxes for our "quiet cupid," secret valentines, for next week. Becky's was by far the cutest and most creative.
Ended the night by going to revive, a worship service with a devotional on Thursday nights. The speaker at revive was wearing a University of Rochester sweatshirt!! He apparently graduated from there and is a pharmacy professor here at findlay.
Spontaneously went to Buffalo Wild Wings for the first time and enjoyed a delicious evening snack.

Wednesday

Preston may have introduced me to an interesting, yet decent snack in the dining hall...peaches and cottage cheese. I know it sounds and looks disgusting because that's what I said but it really isn't that bad.
Shadowed at the veterinary clinic this morning and there were 2 neuters, a spay and a dental cleaning. It was a quick and easy process and was really cool.
In bio lab today we observed our bacteria that we had collected last week from one of the print station's mouse in the computer lab. Look at how much bacteria was on it!
