Saturday

Got home late last night, midnight, from the movie and slept in till 9:45 this morning. I thought the movie was pretty good, except it was really long. The movie lasted for 2 hours, by the one hour mark I couldn't feel my butt, I was sitting on the floor with my back against the couch. With about a half hour to go my tail bone started hurting and all I wanted was for that movie to be over. I really liked the movie though.

Today, I got up ate breakfast in my room since the milk was almost bad and then tried to do some Chemistry homework. Eventually, my roommate and her boyfriend showed up and we talked and hung out and then we decided to play game cube. I did a lot better this time! I actually came in first for one race, I was so proud of myself.

After using up all our energy on game cube we headed to the dining hall for lunch, but most of it was closed down so there wasn't any good food, so we got some food from the to go section. I got fried rice and when I started eating it I realized and remembered this wasn't Wegman's fried rice. I was so disappointed. I miss Wegman's!!!

A friend of my roommate's came over for a little bit and then everyone headed out for dinner. I was starving and of course there was nothing good at the dining hall. I tried their cheesecake and it looked like vanilla pudding, but a little too stiff and tasted nothing like cheesecake.

I got most of my English essay done today, but still have some homework to get done. Hopefully I will get it all done tomorrow so I'm not panicking and have all this work to do on Monday.

On top of the fitness complex being closed, all the other places on campus are shut down. So much for trying to keep people on campus for the weekends. The dining hall is the only place open this weekend. Now if I had a car I might be able to do some more exciting things off campus or go places, but I do not have that option. Bummer:(

Three Day Weekend; BLAAAHHH!

Got the results from the tryouts last night. I didn't make it, but that's okay.
This is me headed to tryouts. We had to wear nice jeans, riding boots and an ironed, nice shirt.

Now its finally the long dreaded weekend, Blaahhh! The parking lots are finally empty and everyone has left to go home. The only people left on campus are those that don't live in state or Michigan or anywhere within four hours. All my friends left to go see their families, boyfriends and to go home. Oh well, at least on the bright side all the loud girls on our floor left. Tonight I'm going to the my Church's Pastor's house to watch The Great Gatsby with some friends, it should be fun. So I was planning on working out for most of the weekend for entertainment, but of course the fitness complex is closed all weekend. Great!! I'm loving this weekend more and more every day. I guess I will be doing homework and studying this weekend, trying to get ahead.

Ultimate Frisbee Anyone?

Went to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) meeting last night and really enjoyed it. I recognized some of the faces from seeing them around campus and meeting them earlier in the month. After the FCA meeting we went to play some ultimate Frisbee!

I got hit in the corner of my eye within the first 15minutes and today it's a little sore when you touch it.

I took Kai with me to the FCA meeting and to play some Frisbee; we both had a great time!

Finished off the night with a nice cold raspberry peach fruit smoothie from Derrick's hangout. Best food on campus is there!

Only have one class today; equine handling. Hopefully it goes a little better than last class. Tonight I am going to the Ranch Horse Team tryouts to tryout for the team. As of right now I'm kind of neutral and would be pleased with either way; if I make the team or not. There are only 20 spots on the team and 61 were at the meeting, so we will see how many show up. Practices are at 5:30am on one day out of the week and then one evening practice on Sundays. The early practice eliminates a few people right off the bat. I can do 5:30am no problem, it's just how do I get there at 5:00am or on Sunday nights? We will know who made the team by tomorrow afternoon, so time will just have to tell.

Meet Risky

Today was our first day of riding in my riding class! We got our horse assignments and then had to go find them and tack up. My horse was in aisle 5; right where all the animal handling classes were hanging out and working. I walked up and down the aisle twice and couldn't find my horse, where was he? Then I looked in every stall and my horse was gone, the one empty stall was apparently mine. Where was my horse? I found my teacher and told them and apparently one of the freshmen equestrian majors had turned him out so they could do his stall. Which you're not suppose to do. So here is my big four legged friend, Risky Principles!

Food Hates Me!

Last night before lab I had went to get an early dinner and late lunch, but when I got back I was really hungry and the dining hall had already closed. So I thought I might have some cereal, but then remembered the watermelon in the fridge and got all excited. As I took off the wrapping on the watermelon I didn't smell that delicious, mouth watering smell of watermelon, so I took a really whiff and it smelled disgusting. I looked the watermelon over and saw all these white dots on it and realized it had molded. I didn't know watermelons could rot from the inside within a day or two? So watermelon was out, now there were nectarines in the fridge, but were all really squishy and I hate squishy. Next I went for the fresh garden salad in the fridge and ranch dressing. As I poured the ranch dressing onto the salad I realized it was yellow. Ranch dressing is supposed to be white right? So I took a bite and thought "what can a little bad ranch dressing do," apparently it can do a lot. I spat that salad out in a heart beat and was so mad and disgusted. Great, no food! My only option left was cereal. My roommate turns to me and says "you sure the milk isn't spoiled?" If that milk was spoiled then I was going to scream!! I went and got the milk out of the fridge and gave it a good sniff and the milk still smelled fresh. After all that disappointment I ended up right where I should have started, my bowl of shredded mini-wheats and nice cold milk.

I thought all this was over, but apparently not. This morning as I was getting breakfast I decided to have some toast. As I went to get some bread, all the bread was covered in mold and I mean covered. Luckily enough I found 2 clean slices and put them in the toaster. The toaster didn't toast the toast so I only had a jelly sandwich, gross! And yet again I was left with cereal as my only option left:( I hope this doesn't keep happening because I'm going to be one unhappy college student that is dying of starvation!

First Day with the Horses

Today for Animal Handling: Equine class we got to go out to the barn and practice stall catching and leading the horses for the first time. There were several people in my class who had never handled a horse before, so it was kind of interesting.
Below is a picture of the U.F. Veterinary Ambulance; I wonder just how well it works in emergency situations? I guess we will find out.

So in my group of four there was one girl from Pittsburgh who had never handled a horse so it was kind of interesting to try and explain stuff to her. As she was walking our horse down the aisle and turned around there was a flake of hay sitting next to a stall, so our horse tried to go for it and stopped. Just behind our horse was another groups' horse and a girl leading it that had never handled a horse either. The other groups' horse got too close to our horses rear and so our horse kicked and missed the horse and hit the girl right in the thigh. All we heard was a loud scream and all of us turned right around and tried to analyze the situation and what had just happened. I know it's probably not too nice, but I thought it was kind of funny, mostly because I was jealous. I know I'm wrong but I think it would be fun to get kicked at least once with no injuries. Anyways we quickly got the horses away from each other and made sure the girl was alright. Nothing like an injury the first day and time handling horses! I think we made a record.

Had chemistry lab for three hours. This is me ready to blow some stuff up, oh yeah!

It was so hot in the lab and our lab manager made us wear rubber gloves and plastic aprons because pennies are just so hazardous and the sucrose solution could just eat away at your skin; I'm being sarcastic if you didn't get that.

Pre Veterinary Club

Monday was just another Monday. I love Dr. Whitaker's class more and more every day! If I started my day out with English then I am certain I would be so miserable and probably not get out of bed for that class. Monday night was the first meeting for Pre-Vet Club, which if you look below it is a very popular club. There was standing room only within just a few minutes.

They had several events that you could sign up to go to and volunteer for. One was we would go to Cedar Point and dress up as monsters for a weekend. Sounds like fun? Think again. Apparently nobody takes a shower during the whole weekend because the showers are that bad and the beds are terrible, you get very little sleep and have to wear a hot costume that has a lot of requirements. For example, you can't wear any earrings or jewelry, no nail polish, bracelets, need black shoes, pants and shirt and many more requirements. I guess I won't be doing that.

Just Another Day

All done with Monday classes! This week is going to be a lot more fun, because were actually starting to do stuff. As of right now my favorite class has to be Intro to Animal Science with Dr. Whitaker. He is the best teacher ever!! Plus, the information were learning about is interesting and a little tedious at the same time. Right now we are learning about the meat market and the top countries that have cattle, poultry, swine and horses.
My second favorite class would probably be my riding class. We are starting to ride on Wednesday! I can't wait! Today we got a demo on how to clean our tack and then cleaned our tack ourselves.
This is a before picture, I didn't get an after picture; sorry:(

Had to muck out Peanut's stall again! This is the manure pad.

This is the shavings barn. A new load came in on Wednesday last week and we got a whole tracker trailer load full of shavings! Hopefully it lasts us a little while. Just next to the shaving's barn is the hay barn which a new load came in when the shaving load came in, but instead of just one trailer truck we had 2 full of hay. Anyone want hay?

I pass this every day on my way to the farm and think it is so cool. It's a drink drive thru, mostly beer. Even though I don't like or drink beer I think it is really cool.

Sunshine and Homework

Went to church this morning and then enjoyed the beautiful weather outside by doing my homework at a nearby picnic table. I even got sunburned on my shoulders!!

After a few hours of homework I went to the cardio center and worked out for an hour. It felt great!! Finished writing up my lab for Tuesday, ended up being 22 pages! I hope all the others aren't that long, but I did have to write up 2 of them. Second day of Monday classes  tomorrow, kind of excited to start doing stuff and not just going of the syllabi. Hope you all are doing well and miss everyone!

Cleaning

Just finished doing the laundry from yesterday's color run! Wow was that a challenge to get the color off of our bodies!! I still am colored. On the other hand, the color was extremely easy to get out of our clothes; of course. Our shirts are now completely white, except for my armpits. I now sweat the color purple and green according to the shirt!

Afternoon Adventure

Decided to go for an afternoon walk to Walmart yesterday. Bad idea!! I learned to not take directions from Morgan, at least when walking and after she just wakes up from a nap. There are two Walmarts in Findlay; one just down the street and the other in the mall. Morgan wanted to walk through downtown Findlay so we decided to go to the mall. I knew where and how to get to the other Walmart, but had only been to the mall a couple of times, not recently at least. We ended up walking nearly 3 miles.

We had been walking for about 20 minutes and took a stop at Tim Hortons and I saw this sign. Out of all the places in the world!

We continued walking because we were certain the mall was just over the next hill. Over the hill we saw Best Buy, so we stopped and looked around and played on the various devices as we awaited the arrival of a friend with a car.

Us being rescued and taken to Walmart that was at the complete opposite end of the mall that we were at!

Shopped in Rue 21, never heard of the place, which is very similar to Old Navy. They had some great deals so we shopped around and I found 2 pairs of jeans that fit really well.

Morgan really wanted to go to PetSmart so we made a stop there also. Another bad idea! She was determined to buy a fish, great! As we were approaching the fish section we saw a baby ball python. It was kind of cool, but who would buy it? I was amazed at how expensive some of the snakes were, the python was $80 and not too cute.

And for my sister I saw a chameleon and just had to take a picture!

Finally at about 6:45pm we made it to Walmart and started shopping!

Finished off the night and day with some cookie dough and watching movies!

Lets Get Some Color Going on Campus!

Woke up this morning, early, to do the Kolor Run.
These are the kind of colors that they threw at us. We each got a pack and had to save it till the end so all of us could throw our colors at once.

If you can't read the words at the bottom on the package; it says "do not get wet, with colors on your body and hair" How are we supposed to get the color off then?

Before

Everyone waiting to be sent off at the start line

When we got back from our run, we played a little paint twister

After

The cleaning station
They had several leaf blowers there to get rid of the loose color

I forgot to close my mouth when we all tossed up our colors. Whoops!
