Homecoming Weekend

It's homecoming weekend!! Celebrating 25 years as a University.

Some delicious red raspberry pie with a little bit of ice cream:)

Twinning with Jenise

The triplets, Me, Jenise and Haley went to the Homecoming game this past weekend and got to see the Homecoming court and who was Homecoming King and Queen. Dallas got homecoming king, but I don't know the person who got Queen.

Morning Walk

Can't ask for a better morning than taking our calves for a walk and being able to watch the sunrise.

Stress Reliever

Last Friday night, after all our tests and quizzes were over with Sarah, Ashley and I went on a girls night out/date night. We went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse and enjoyed some delicious steaks, rolls and potatoes and then went to the movies.

Every once in a while the school gives free movie tickets away, so we had gotten them at the beginning of the month and finally were able to use them to go see Maze Runner. Maze Runner was a great movie, but really intense. Sarah was ready to duct tape my mouth shut because I was making too much noise and jumping around in my seat like a fish out of water.
We then went back and watched a comedy movie on Netflix to help us get over the cliff hanger of the Maze Runner and to get a good laugh in.

Taming the Bull

The other Monday morning I had show cattle team and we were assigned to lead/walk the two bulls and a pen full of heifers.
As we walked by the Llamas and Alpacas would come out and meet the calves. They were both shy and interested in each other at the same time.
The bull that I got was at first a little rough and would run, put his head down and drag me, but eventually he just started to walk beside with no problems.

Morgan Link, an RA in the village with me, and I with my bull.

Organic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and more

Had our first Organic Chemistry exam last Friday. My week consisted of studying Organic Chemistry and Biology non-stop for all week.

This is how we started to feel the night before the test as we had been studying for 6 hours in the library.

Did Someone Say Budweiser?

Guess whose staying at the Findlay Western Farm?! Yep, THE Budweiser Clydesdale's!

We got to pet and see all twelve of them the other night and you could stop in anytime during the day. They were quite the attraction. The groomers would take them on walks during the day, four at a time. Can you imagine walking four Clydesdales at one time?! Not many of us could, but they were rather well trained and behaved to do that.

They don't travel light

The Clydesdale's even did their wagon routine for the public at the Hancock County Fairgrounds and at the University's farm.

So cute

Canoeing on the Blanchard

Last Sunday I went canoeing with ResLife on the Blanchard River. The Blanchard River is the river known in Findlay to flood and I now know why, because it is like 2 feet deep for most of it and then 12 feet in some spots. Not a lot of room to not flood.

Katie Poorman and I went kayaking and had a great time catching up and trying our best to stay dry and not flip. Both her and I do not like the water. I thought I was going to do really good and not freak out but that went down hill real fast after sitting in the kayak for not even 2 feet. There was a little spider by my hand and I said to myself "oh I can deal with you and flipped it into the water," but just as I flipped the small spider into the water I looked down and there right next to my leg and butt was a huge spider! It was about the size of a half dollar. I screamed, got my paddle and was trying to smoosh the spider, but the paddle couldn't get it and so then the spider crawled under my seat. I didn't see it again and I was praying so hard that I wouldn't. On the bright side, I survived:)

Feeding

Another fun night at the barns as we fed everyone and then got to give injections to a goat that had a fever of 104.5, moved an Ewe and her lamb from the maternity room to the main barn area and got to number some of the lambs with black paint so it is easier to identify and find them.

Barn Rodeo

Monday morning, bright and early, I headed out to the barns for Show Cattle team. There was only me and another girl that are both RAs and were on the team last year together that were working the morning shift. We had to catch and halter 10 heifers and 2 bulls, none of which had been touched yet. We would open the gate and they would all stare at us and when we made one move they would all go running the other direction. Lets just say we had our work cut out for us.

It took us a little over an hour to get all the calves caught and tied up. In the process we had a little barn rodeo going as we would get the calves in a corner and then try and "fish" up a calf and once we got the halter on we would drop the show stick and grab onto the lead as we prepared for impact and being dragged through the pen. All of them went running in circles, mooing, kicking and just plan old being difficult.

Cris, the barn manager and head of the team, had to come in for assistance once or twice

My partner in rounding up these trouble makers, Katie.

John Deere Birthday

Monday was Cassie's birthday so on Sunday we decorated her room while she was at the dining hall for dinner. We attempted to build a tractor out of boxes and then we had green and yellow galore!
She was surprised, but wasn't feeling well at all that weekend, so her birthday weekend plans were a little messed up.

First Game

Went to the first football game of the season last Saturday. It was a little different for us having the game in the evening, because all other games in the season are played in the afternoon. Had a great time going with Sarah and then meeting up with everyone from my floor last year.

Beautiful night for a game!

Some of my favorite girls; Emma, Sarah, Emily, Alli, Alyssa and Julie

Alyssa, Julie, Myself and Alli. All four of us lived on the same floor last year.

Julie decided to give me a braided beard.

At the end of the game they were giving away discounted pizzas so Sarah and I got a $6 pizza for the night.
